Career Development Forum 2009

Mark SchumannWhere do you fit in our profession? At Yankee IABC’s Career Development Forum on March 18, you will have the opportunity to focus on your personal career growth objectives. Mark Schumann, ABC, will host the Career Development Forum and lead an “open mike” conversation on the state of our profession—based on results and insights from the recently completed Profile by the IABC Research Foundation—and how each of us can create opportunities to be heard.

A Principal and a Communication Consultant for Towers Perrin and Managing Principal of the firm’s Houston office, Mark is celebrating his 30th year as a member of IABC. He is a 15-timewinner of the Gold Quill Award, a past Communicator of the Year of the Dallas and Houston chapters, and will be the 2009-2010 chair of IABC International.

An outstanding professional with a full range of experience in employee, change and human resource communications, Mark will address three questions:

  • What is happening in our profession—the challenges, the opportunities, the roles—and where does your work fit in?
  • What skills are needed to make our profession (and our professions) essential to organizations—and what new skills should we be developing?
  • How do your work, your organization, your reporting relationships, your pay and your priorities fit in a profession as relevant as today’s headlines?

This program is designed to help you move your career forward. Last year’s Career Development Forum was one of the best-attended and well-received Yankee IABC programs.
