Fall Membership Mixer Recap

We kicked off the year with our Fall Membership Mixer on Sept. 26 at Gordon’s Fine Wine and Culinary Center in Waltham, Mass. More than 35 members and guests attended to network with each other, share best practices, and learn from wine tasting expert Lindsay Cohen.

During the event, YIABC President Dave Seifert presented Jodi Freedman, supervisor, Internal Communications, Bose Corporation, with her Accredited Business Communicator (ABC) certificate. ABC is IABC’s professional credential program recognizing communicators who have reached a globally accepted standard of knowledge and proficiency in their chosen field.

It offers communicators a way of demonstrating their ability to think and plan strategically and to successfully manage those skills essential to effective organizational communication, which could include internal communications, media relations, crisis communications and external relations. More information on accreditation is available on www.IABC.com.

Kathleen Brown, YIABC Director-At-Large for Volunteer Outreach, also hosted a “Volunteer Fair” to help members understand how easy it is to become involved in the chapter.

She’s still looking for more volunteers, so if you missed the event but want more information about volunteering opportunities – either one-time or more continuous – please contact Kathleen at kathleen@blochbrown.com.
